The Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) System, also known in some markets as Distributed Antenna System (DAS), is a signal boosting solution designed to enhance radio frequency (RF) signal coverage in buildings for public safety radios.
A Bi-Directional Amplification (BDA) system is a reliable public safety radio infrastructure system in buildings used to enhance and safeguard emergency communications for police, firefighters, and emergency medical services. Reliable radio coverage is vital for first responders during emergencies, yet approximately 56% of fire departments experience communication failures during emergencies. These systems are valuable during medical emergencies, fires, or law enforcement activities.
Who needs BDA?
According to the Florida Fire Prevention Code, before January 1, 2024, an existing building that does not meet the minimum radio strength requirements for fire department communications must apply for an appropriate permit for the required installation with the local government agency having jurisdiction and must demonstrate that the building meets these requirements before January 1, 2025.
Therefore, any building that is identified and inspected according to local ordinances and/or requires public safety permits. Any place where first responders, maintenance, and security personnel need to maintain constant two-way communications.
